The birth of the single-cylinder engine
In 1860, Etienne Renoir invented the first working internal combustion engine.
On 29 January 1886, the world's first three-wheeled vehicle invented by Karl Benz was granted a ‘patent for the manufacture of automobiles’, which is known to most as the birth date of the modern automobile. The car was equipped with a horizontal single-cylinder engine, with a maximum speed of 16KM/hour.
One day in August 1888, 18-year-old Mrs Benz drove the car made by her husband back to her mother's home, because the design of the car has not yet been perfected, the road has gone through a lot of painstakingly, 100 kilometres of the journey took a whole day to arrive. Karl Benz and his wife with their courage and perseverance for mankind opened a new era, worth remembering forever.
